ABOUT ME
My name is Milly Shennan and I am currently studying my final year of a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of New England, becoming a new graduate Registered Nurse at the end of a 2020.
I describe myself as a happy and confident person who has an appreciation for life and an excitement for what my career in nursing is yet to bring.
I grew up in Port Stephens with my family which is located just north of Newcastle, a beautiful part of the world surrounded by some of the best beaches. After completing my HSC and having a year of travel I relocated to Armidale to complete my Bachelor of Nursing.
I am very passionate about the profession of nursing and eager to develop competence in a clinical environment. My personal principles incorporate a commitment to engage collaboratively and professionally with patients and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal health outcomes for the patient. Strategies to uphold these principles include compliance with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia codes and Guidelines; practiced based on the best available evidence; critical reflection on my practice and continued development of my knowledge and competencies.
As part of my journey towards becoming an experienced Registered Nurse, I will also be working towards my goal of clinical nurse consultant in paediatric nursing. I have 12 months experience as an assistant in nursing at a residential aged care facility and intend to enrol in postgraduate education in the next 1-2 years. I am eager to further my skills and knowledge in the health industry as I have always wanted a career that would challenge me daily, interest me and make a difference in peoples lives. Nursing is an honourable profession that I am inspired by as a future career.
